convince people of the Christian message, and isn't that the commission given
to the church by Jesus?

A miracle and a strange almost unbelievable event know as "coincidence" do happen? I just don't think it is fair or correct how a christian will "Embellish a so called Miracle" but then blame humans (sinners) for the negative and downright atrocious things that happen throughout this world where people die, lives are ruined that make this world not such a nice and enjoyable place to live at times. My point is; all the good, happy and fuzzy feelings that happen on this earth can only be by and from God if the terrible and unthinkable tragedies are, TOO!!!! >>>>> PERIOD>>>>>

Mat 12:39 But answering, He said to them, An evil and adulterous generation seeks a sign, and a sign shall not be given to it, except the sign of Jonah the prophet.
Mat 12:40 And even as "Jonah was in the belly of the huge fish three days and three nights," so shall the Son of Man be in the heart of the earth three days and three nights. Jon. 1:17

Face it, even if God performed the greatest miracle possible today, there would be those who would still scoff and write it off. We have the words of Scripture that convicts of sin and shows the way to salvation. Jesus rose from the dead, the evidence is there, yet so many still disbelieve. Besides, how do you know miracles are not happening somewhere in the world, just because the media doesn't pick up on them, doesn't mean they don't happen.

Miracles do happen, even to average people. About 13 years ago, at age 70, they found that my mother's carotid arteries were clogging. One was almost 50% clogged and I can't recall what the other was, but both were getting close to where she would need surgery. They put her on a low cholesterol diet, in hopes of the arteries not clogging more, even though it wouldn't help the obstruction already in the carotid arteries. Several years later, at another hospital, they did the carotid artery scan again and it showed the same thing as the tests before, only a little worse, but still not bad enough to necessitate surgery.

About a year ago, Mom was having problems and they did another carotid artery scan and found them both to the point where surgery was going to be necessary. Since Mom was then 82 years old she decided to take her time on deciding on whether to have the surgery done or not. We asked our church for prayers, that Mom be healed without the surgery, if it be the Lord's will. She finally decided to have the surgery done and before scheduling the surgery the doctor ordered a final scan on the arteries. They came back not completely clear, but at a point where they were only 20%-30% clogged. The doctor said he didn't trust the scan and sent her to another town, another hospital for a second opinion scan. Again, they came back much improved, same as the previous. He had said, along with other doctors, that carotid arteries do NOT clear themselves and had no answer for what had happened. I can only assume he didn't believe in the power of prayer.

As a Christian I believe that miracles happen everyday. I'm not sure if only Christians receive miracles though, for I was once told that unless a sinner prays the sinner's prayer first, a sinner may as well not waste his time praying. (this is something that I'm not sure if I'm in agreement with though) Why wouldn't God grant a miracle to a sinner.......especially if it will help the "sinner" to repent?

Lastly, I'm not sure that God cares about His miracles being verifiable. A Christian who receives a miracle and tells others about it, will either be believed by those of "faith", or not be believed by those who "doubt". (I think that God is pleased though, when we recount our blessings/miracles) God sent his only Son to live on earth, only to be crucified so that we could be forgiven of our sins.....................He's got nothing to prove.

May God bless and touch the hearts of every person who reads this. I pray this in the name of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.

Jesus Himself said that you would not believe even if you saw a miracle. There are still miracles everyday, everywhere- but do you believe them to be miracles? Or just good things- a lucky break?
And the Commission is to tell everyone about Him, showing Him as we go, including healing the sick

The word "miracle" is defined according to one's beliefs.

Some people claim a child being born is a miracle.

It depends on who you ask, but as others have said, supernaturally directed events ("miracles") never did occur and never will.

They do happen, but they only happen in the atmosphere of faith.. if you are not a believer, you will not find yourself in that kind of atmosphere..and so you will miss out.

You need to vist a meeting where there is a high faith level...also remember the timing of the miracles is also in God's timing, not ours.

best wishes, marianne..

They still happen today, but it takes ages before they are recognized as such. The church is very careful about those things.

I totally agree. I do not believe in miracles, at least not in this time.
