I was on Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo for 2 years. It gave me mood swings in the beginning (as just about all of them will), but my cramps went (mostly) away and I didn't gain weight on it. Toward the end, though, I question how well it was working, as my cramps returned and that time of the month got longer.
I am now on Cyclessa. It's been less than a month, but my doctor doesn't predict weight gain, says it should cause fewer mood swings, and my period should get shorter

I tried the pill and always forgot to take it so if you have a good memory that one works their is a new one out that gives you fewer periods. its brand new. i also tried the depo i liked it cause it lasted three months at a time but it makes you gain weight, how much depends on the person. and even my doctor told you it made you gain weight so im not talking out my a**. it really screws up your period though. i just started the nuva ring and it so far doesnt seem to have any major side effects. or mood swings. you just gotta put it in once a month. hope that helps. but remember for like the first couple days after you start it to still use other protection or not have sex. same with towards the end of each month or dose. i got pregnant off the depo cause i was at the end of my dose ( had like a week till i went for my next appt) and didnt use extra protection. Hope this helps a little

Go for the pill. I have never had an problems or bad side effects with it and it's 99.9% effective. There are lots of different kinds of pills... ask your Dr which is the best for you. I've been on Yasmine for the last 5 years and would recommend it! Just remember, the pill does not protect against std's.

hi. ive tried a few. i am on the progesterine only pill right now cause we have a history of dvt in our family. its a little more tricky than the regular pill cause you have to take it within 3 hours of the same time each day (the combined pill is within 12) but its easy if you make a point of it each morning. it also didnt have as many side effects as the combined pill for me. i would suggest asking about a low dosage combined pill for your first one. (unless theres dvt in your family history, thats deep vein thrombosis or blood clots) they seem to have less side effects and takes your body less time to adjust to.and give whatever one you take three months for your body to adapt before you decide that its not right. it takes that long for your body to get used to the excess hormones.

Be careful taking piles douse not always work.
There has been studies made in the UK on single moms and it turned out that the pill did not always work.
So carry condoms, still the best way.

I tried Depo - which is a shot every 4 months - it was reliable.
I tried the pill - I got pregnant while on it.
