My doctor switched my prescription from the 10/650's to the 10/325's to miminize the amount of acetaminophen I take. I was surprised to find the 325's cost more than the 650's. Are they stronger or better in any way????

Now I'm worried.... if you can get liver damage from taking over 3000mg of tylenol daily.... I'm in SERIOUS TROUBLE. I've been taking the 10/650's (every 4 hours, so 3900mg daily) since 1999 (7 years). My doctor JUST switched me. I take them for fibromyalgia.

Hydrocone 10/325 means there is 325 mg. of Tylenol in the pill. 10/650 has 650 mg of Tylenol. You need to know this because taking over 3000 mg of Tylenol per day for an extended period can cause irreversible, permanent liver damage. Therefore, if you have had a serious injury or surgery and need to take several pills per day, you would want to take the lower Tylenol dosage. THIS IS ASSUMING YOU ARE NORMAL SIZED ADULT - children and teens have a lower tylenol tolerance and you should check with a pharmacist regarding their maximum tylenol intake.

Pharmacists (in my experience) will always answer questions about medication safety and precautions. Just call a pharmacy, explain the situation and ask.

As to the cost, I am not sure but you cannot reverse the damage done by Tylenol overdose so be careful. You might call around to several different pharmacies and ask for the prices of the 10/325 prescriptions. It is amazing how much the price can vary for certain drugs.

There are other remedies for fibromyalgia pain that aren't narcotic and won't cause liver damage. I take 800 mg. of Aleve and a 1000-mg. flaxseed oil capsule every night at bedtime so that I'll be able to walk and otherwise move relatively pain-free the next day, plus I take Arnica (a homeopathic herb) as needed for flareups. Check out the links below. I hope this could help you get off of the Tylenol and any narcotics to avoid further long-term problems. Please let us know what works for you.

As other said the only difference is the amount of the tylenol in it. But if you are taking them round the clock for pain, maybe its time your Dr looked at a more continuous pain med... such as MS Contin or slow release Oxycontin. Over a long period of time these drugs have much less negative effects on your major organs.
