I have found what you would call the right man, but it's the wrong time. A long distance relationship is just not right for either for us now due to our work situations. We dated for 6 weeks and then he was the one to come to me about ending it for now. He said, and I agreed, that we could not maintain the stress the miles put between us. He felt we should part ways lest we ruin now what we could have in the future. He thinks if we are meant to be that our love can pick back up where we left off. But it is just too painful for us both to never see eachother. So, he wants us to live life and has asked me not to put mine on hold. If someone comes along and captures my heart, then we weren't meant to be. If we are meant to be together when the time is right, then we will. I am afraid to have no communication because I'm afraid that the no contact in itself will cause us to grow apart. It will be two years we have to wait. Can men really put their love on hold like that?

he's one cool dude to bring it out on the table like that... girl ... listen to him... and dont call him... let him call you.. send the occasional email but let him keep in contact with you... dont chase him... I say you know where your heart is and you do love him.... but he is busy now and he said he'd come back... so girl ...meanwhile be single to mingle.. until he realizes he cant live without you
its OK youre alright.

Sweet heart you answered your own question. To put your life on hold for 2 years for someone you have only know for 6 wks is just not rational.Live your life and keep in touch. If you or him is seeing someone else there is no need to tell the other at the time just when all hope is gone then you say good bye or in 2 years you try again. Neither one you will be the same person in 2 years that you are now. I know this from being in love when I left for the army and came back. Just my opinion.

Depends on the guy and the love. But he was right 2 yrs is along time to wait for someone. Stay in touch as friends, birthdays and holidays. Move on, if you find someone else you do, if you don't then who knows. But it was a wise choice, because too many long distance relationships end badly if one finds another lover. This way there is no quilt if you start having feelings for another while he is gone.

Honestly I do not think they can. I do feel the way you and he feel about if you are meant to be God will let it happen. I think you should keep in contact but not expect the other to hold true to commitment. 2 years is not realistic for either one of you. You will meet people everyday in life and you really do not know who your true love is to be yet. Get all the dating out of the way and if you and he can't find anyone to compare with you, than you will find your way back to each other.

Yes, they can. And this guy sounds perfect. Like he said, if it was meant to be, then you can pick up where you left off. Until then, you should still have contact, but just be friends. Don't make it more until the right time for both of you has come. :)

I think of Love as a fragile flower that needs to be pampered and taken care of. When I fell in love with my wife I had to go trough hard times trying to keep her close to me. I had to be humiliated by people who tried anything to make us break up. I wanted her so bad because I could not imagine my life without her. I fought hard, and more...and again against her mom who didn't like me to be around her daughter. I tried everything I quit several jobs to be close to her. Finally she became my wife, but I do not think that we will be married today if I just let things happen.
If you stay apart that long I think he doesn't love you as much as he says he does. If he thinks you are going to be the mom of his children he would take any step possible to be close to you.
But as I red your question I get the feeling that you are the one that loves him more than he loves you, so GO AHEAD show him what YOU can do to get him ....
good luck...let me know

well the real question is why are you going against the agreement that you made. your role in this is to live your life so live your life dont worry about him. if you want to keep a communication line open thats fine but he is not in a relationship with you right now.

let it go for now. come bacl later. if it was meant to be, then you will be back together as you wished. if it wasn't, well, you wouldn've bumped into another man during the waiting time.
