I'm sorry to hear you're suffering to quit smoking. The good news is that you are trying to quit. You want it bad enough that you are seeking help from public.

While it is next to impossible to quit smoking, please realize it is possible. Think of the harms you bring to your loved family by introducing second hand smoke. It is no different than mixing small dosage of poison on their food every day...not to mention what it does to your own body given by your loving parents.

While nicotine patches and all the gimmicks might help you to certain degree, it's ultimately your solid determination that will get you to win the battle. You can't rely on the external help to get rid of the bad habit. Be strong and think about all the harms you're doing to yourself and family. You won't accept anyone else even thinks of hurting your precious family yet you are doing it yourself.

My own grand mother died of lung cancer after smoking half of her life and I can tell you that the ending was not pretty at all. I'm sure if she knew what was coming, she won't have touched even one cigarette butt. It was long and painfully agonizing death.
You really don't want your kids to remember that as your last days.

While you might feel okay right now, you will eventually feel sick and helpless and it will be too late to quit by then. You can quit now and reverse all the harms done to your body by eating healthy and exercise. But you can't wait until tomorrow to do it.

I really hope you can overcome this problem and be a proud to yourself and to your family...and stop making tobacco companies rich. They are already filthy rich by making us slave to their products and killing millions of us at the end. Best luck to you!

A problem with smoking is that all your friends really don't want you to quit. At least you've got the support of your family.

I smoked for years. I tried and failed to quit several times, though I finally succeeded and now can't stand the smell, taste or anything.

You'll get lots of advice on setting a quit date and all that stuff from the American Lung Association.

You can talk to your doctor about the new drug on the market which works better than Welbutrin/Zyban-- Chantix -- which curbs your cravings and actually makes cigarettes less satisfying.

If all else fails, do what I did and secretly recruit all your smoking friends without them realizing it. Here's how I did it:

I told myself I could smoke as many as I wanted to. The only rule I absolutely had to follow was that I could NEVER buy ANY. I had to borrow every one I smoked. At first friends wanted to share just to have someone to smoke with. Soon they began to avoid me. It was fun seeing them suffer as much as I did. Soon they wanted me to quit, and I did!

Good luck.

Hearing the decision to quit from you, yourself is very rewarding and could warrant a higher rate of success if you would not fall into temptation to smoke again. However, quitting does not happen overtime. It takes time-days, weeks, or perhaps even months. First of all I would suggest that you get rid of any cigarettes that is still in your possession and stay away from it. Also it is advisable to chew on something like a gum for instance to keep your mouth busy especially when you have these cravings for nicotine. Moreover, involve your family in your decision to stop smoking for they are the ones who can help you manage your problem and keep track of you whenever temptations knocks at your door. Try to keep yourself busy like focus more on your hobbies and things that you enjoy aside from smoking. By the way, have you tried nicotine patches? If no, you might wanna check on that. I hear it works. If the day would pass without you touching that cigar then you should always congratulate yourself. Good luck and hoping the best for you...

Yes... smoke one last cigarette and plegde to yourself that it will be your last. Be SURE, though... that it isn't the last cigarette in your pack. You don't want to quit while you "ran out" of cigatettes. Be sure to throw away 4 or 5 at LEAST. It will make you feel more confident. The bottom line is "self-will" also... no matter the tips that you are givin' or the advice that you hear... if you don't want to quit for you own personal reasons... then you will not have much luck.

Cold turkey. Eat celery. It will be the hardest thing you have ever done in your life. Watch out for triggers...for instance, I had a hard time having coffee in the a.m. if I couldn't have a cigarette. You need to change your routine for a couple of weeks. Also, walk. Walk, walk, walk. If you get a craving that you think you won't get past: stop what you are doing, and walk. Make tonight the last cigarette you will ever smoke. Good luck. Be stronger than you think you are!

It truly will be one of the hardest things to do in your life. The cravings will continue for as long as your will to smoke is there. Best advice to you is simple, think about what smoking has done to your health. Now think about what smoking will be doing to your children's health. There is a strong correlation that since you smoke, your children may end up smoking too.

Good on you for trying, and what better reason to quit than your family.
Although they can support and encourage you, it still has to come from an unshakeable desire to quit - from yourself.
Get your thoughts aligned with what you are gaining by quitting, not what you are loosing. There's lot of great help here: http://www.quitguide.com
