Long distance relationships are extremly tough to maintain. I know this, because I live in Southern California and my fiancee' lives in Hanoi, Vietnam. Thre needs to be trust and huge commitement to each other, or the long distance relationships will fail.
Look around you and see the opportunities you have to date others vs only having phone conversations and E-mails for a relationship. Your boyfriend is in the same dillemma as you plus the expense of maintain your relationship.
If you still like the guy, then call him and talk about it. If you two care enough for each other to commit more time to physically see each other, then your relationship has a chance. If you can't, then it's best to let him go and move on with your life.
