If you don't like him and you told him that, then yes, of course you made the right choice.
Just because a guy wants you to like him, doesn't mean that you have to.
If he asks again, let him know again that you don't like him, and if he likes you, he should try moving on, because it wouldn't work with you two. Don't do that in a harsh way though. Let him down easily.
