i have a legal XP CD.......the CD cracked, i borrowed my friends XP CD and when i tried to enter my key code it wouldnt work.......why is that? ...is my serial just for my CD?

that cant be true, because i used an old XP cd i had and i installed it on my friends comptuer to make sure my key works, and it installed no problem, its like the key works when it wants to

The Key Code is on your CD. Your friends code is on his CD it won't work. Call Microsoft like I did and they gave me a tempory number.

contact microsoft for this if you had a genuine cd .
if you want your friends cd working ask your friend which key he uses with his cd

The codes are per CD. You have to contact Microsoft or your OEM to get a new one

it's because you used your key on your friends computer.
