Is it the same thing as when you get a dui or dwi??

I don't know if it is technically suspended, but diving with an expired license is not legal. If the license had expired recently and you just forgot, you would probably be given a warning only. With an outstanding fine, I doubt you'd get off with the warning.

No. Your license will be expired since you have to pay for the fine and the license will lapse. A suspension is a punishment, your license expiring is an administrative matter. If you get pulled over just show them the ticket and explain DMV would not allow you to renew it until you paid for the ticket.

In most states, that's exactly what it means, you must pay fees and take care of it, before you get picked up or referred to District Attorney's office for Driving While License Suspended.

They will renew it but come after you. That is, depending upon the state.

thats why you can't renew.It's suspeneded until the fines are paid and you will proably have to get an sr 22 if you wait to long to get it back.
