I think you've already answered your own question. Me?
I have a labrador, now 4 years old, and she's great. This is my 3rd Lab, and I don't want any other breed, ever. But to be honest with you? For the most part, your dogs behavior has a lot to do with training, love, consistency, of all of those things. Puppies are always more jumpy and active, and Lab's calm down a lot within 2 years. I have found that little dogs are really energetic, and usually
"stay" that way. So it all depends on you. Good luck.

I don't think your ready to get a dog. I'm not being mean but it seems like you may just want to buy a statue of a dog. You don't have to feed them. They just sit around all day and you don't have to do anything for them. Getting a dog is a very committed responsibility. Maybe you should get a cat. Cats don't require much. Think twice before you make a decision. No dog is work free. But if your committed the joy they bring into your life is a very calming experience.

Make another list of qualities you do want in a dog. Find a breed of dog that best meets those qualities. For instance if you wanted a dog to run with or maybe or to do agility with. Or do you prefer a lap dog. Then research the best breed for you. So many times people get the wrong dog and it ends up in a shelter because they got a hyper breed because it looked cute, and they are couch potatoes and now they have a dog that is tearing things up because they are bored. Remember its for life! Good luck in your search!

You should get a dog that you love, that you are willing to pay for (food, vet visits, shots, care, emergency care, training, etc.) and that loves you back. Go to the shelter and pick one of the many nice ones needing a good home. Wait till you find "THE ONE" then go for it. Good luck finding just the right one!

Cocker spaniel. I've had them all my life. They are very smart and easy to train. They do well inside and out. They do get a little hairy, but they can be brushed easily. The main thing to be careful of with them is to make sure their ears stay clean.

go to your nearest shelter and have a look, they ofter a wide variety of dogs, you can also spend a little time with the pups you are interested in, that way you can see if that is just the right pup or dog, for you, don't forget the older dogs..you often don't have to worry about alot of training issues.

chihuahuas are good dogs and they dont have to be small.many people dont want the larger ones because the small ones are whats popular. they are loyal to one owner and have great personalities. they arent very energetic once out of the puppy stage. they are happy just keeping you company.
