Jim Thorpe excelled in several sports in a time when native americans were not even recognized as americans,he won Olyimpic Gold in track against the best in the world,wrongfully had his medals taken away by a racist society,played professional football against the likes of George Halas of the Chicago Bears,played baseball and would have been a great professional golfer if given the chance,there are many great atheletes in a certain sport,but very few that can do it all.

Jim Thorpe was an olympic track star, a college football and pro football hall of famer and he also played for the NY Giants baseball team. Amazing athlete.

well, i think you'd have to name a certain sport. I mean, some people say Walter Payton was the greatest football player, and Mahammad Ali was the greatest boxer, and Michael Jordan was the best basketball player. They each have their strengths and all were amazing atheletes. You cant pinpoint just one for all sports. That's not possible. Besides, thats a question of opinion. Everyone will think something different.

Jackie Robinson, he excelled in 4 sports at UCLA (baseball, football, track and basketball). Also he made the HOF in his weakest sport, baseball.
