and they euthanaise Dogs. Why is it that we humans HAVE TO suffer the indignity and pain of a slow and messy death. Surely if the patient wants to move on we should let them.

I agree. I work in an Old Peoples Home and I have witnessed some harrowing, slow, lingering, painful deaths. When some people have dementia they "forget" they have to eat, and you cannot force them, so they literally starve themselves to death and it`s awful to watch. All you can do is make them "comfortable". If they are not cared for properly, the skin on the pressure areas on the body break down resulting in horrible sores. Towards the end their GP will usually prescribe morphine patches because of the pain. I think it`s cruel and inhumane to let someone suffer like this. It should be a decision between the family and 2 doctors, 1 of whom should administer an "extra strong dose" of morphine. Life is precious, but why prolong the agony of dying this way when death is within sight?

When I saw your question, I knew immediately what you meant...this has been my life for years...we care more about our poor dog that can't get up the stairs anymore...or the animal that moans when it get's up from a sleeping position....how can this not be right for us...I have a sound mind...isn't that all it takes....No, we're made to endure chronic physical pain, until our last breath...

Move to Oregon where they accept euthanizing. And you are a higher order of being than a dog or a horse.

I agree with you completely. My life should be mine to do with as I wish.

Well, maybe, but there's a world of difference between letting them and helping them.

I am looking for a euthanasia buddy to help me if I need it. Anyone know of a group?

We are the dominant species. I think they are afraid if they allow us to euthanize humans we might get too trigger happy and start "killing" people instead of treating.
Could also create greed, and doctors are seeing more dollar signs than actual life.
Doctors have horrible bed side manners already.
