I have shortening but no oil, recipe calls for oil. How much shortening should be used to equal oil or should I melt shortening to get 1/2 cup liquid oil?

It's not the same, but if you can't get any oil right now, guess it's worth a try, also it depends on what you are making, wish you would have said.

it does depend on what your cooking if its cake or brownie it will work but you may noticed a firmer product when cooled still good but firmer to the touch. it will probably take quite a bit more to equal 1/2 cup liquid you may want to back off the actual amount you add to the recipe.

Both are good for you, each fruit/vegetable has different vitamins. Thus as more variety, as better. Vegetables have generally less sugar than fruits.
