I have a new Mac, and I need to use a Microsoft Word-type program, but can't find it anywhere. I have TextEdit, which is no good, and a test drive for Microsoft Office 2004, which I can't run. How can I write on this computer? Thanks.

Good suggestion, but I forgot to mention that I downloaded Open Office, only to be told I needed to install Apple X11, which I tried to download but my computer wouldn't let me, as it said that I had newer software.

Go here and install OpenOffice.org.

Or use Google's Writely.

Try iWork, or if you insist on Microsoft, get Office 2004 for Mac.
