Extra High Tension
It's the very high voltage that is connected to the final anode on the back of the tube.
It will look like a thick cable stuck on with a sucker.
DON'T GO NEAR IT.
This is lethal voltage. Several thousand volts. If you have to ask what EHT is you really should keep out. Even when you have turned the TV off this can lurk around and kill you.
like the previous question guy says. Don't worry. If it works leave it.
OR unplug it and wait till it's been off for a day (yes that long) then clean it like he suggests. It really is best to be safe here.
OK I'm sure Realist is correct, it's not always leathal. I have seen someone thrown across the room by the EHT on a PPI and the track mark burns up the nerve ways can be nasty. Professionals and clever people tend to work with one hand in their pocket so the shock is nasty but not fatal. Get it from one hand to another across your heart and it kills you very efficiently. It used to be a popular suicide method for engineers when I was in the Air Force.

I wouldn't do the meths bit, just dust. The last thing you want is some tiny drop going astray and causing more problems when you turn the set back on (although the meths would have evaporated by then, it could leave a residue).
Remember, don't do anything until the TV has been unplugged from the mains constantly for at least a day, if it's a big telly (27" or more) it may be best to leave it an extra few hours to be on the safe side.
EHT scares the begeebies out of me, I've seen first hand what it can do to someone :(

I am the Realist who answered your original question ! OK then EHT stands for Extra High Tension and it is carried to the pic tube by the thick red cable that ends in a sucker type connector onto the bowl of the pic tube ! Rick described it well but his dire warnings of instant death can be taken with a pinch of salt , The voltage is from a low current source and while contact with it will make you use bad language for a second and cause you to skin your knuckles when you drag your hand away you will not be killed or even hurt , LOL Rick !!! Oh and thanks for your vote last time, How many weeks did you work in a TV repair shop Johnathon ? The metho is commonly used in Tv workshops all over the world ! where have you been !!

Extra High Tension.
It is the high voltage (25kV) used to produce a raster on the face of the tube.
You will recognise it by the slight "rustle" as you switch the set on, and the heavy deposit of dust on the thick lead that goes on to the wide part of the CRT.
If you touch it, you will also recognise it.

Extra High Tension.Used to drive the tube first anode. If you want a good wallop then stick your hand on it and if you dont keep clear. You can get a wallop after the set is turned off.Like lightening it jumps and strikes.

Extra Hairy Testicles. You won't find them in the back of your TV though - try looking in your undies.
