Customs, when I first moved to Japan, I really had a hard time with the fact that blowing on your food there is considered rude, but slurping (like soups and noodles) up your food is not considered rude.

If it is long term adjustment then I would say it is becoming illiterate. After all when you are use to being able to understand how to read instructions to do something and then all of a sudden you have to ask some for help to work an oven that doesn't look the same as home and it's instructions are all in a different language. It is damn hard to adjust to. Instructions are just one example street signs, forms, schedules, events and other things come to mind. Like even at Mc Donalds when they have those little prize stickers on the containers how do you know that you have won or lost?
gaikokugo wa homma ni yomihen.

I always have a difficult time adjusting to the time differences, but only for the first few days. Other than that, The only other thing which I have difficulty dealing with is the looks I get from people, You can almost feel the dislike of America when they see that you are an American.

Probably food. Different parts of the world have different types of quisine, and different standards of what's going on your plate to begin with. In France, they eat 'gourmet' dishes that would cause most of us to reach for a barf bag, in america. I'm not down for snailburgers, are you? LOL In India, cows are considered sacred, and they're likely appaled and dismayed at our beef production industry. Muslim nations have religious prohibitions against eating pork, we have it on our dinner plates twice maybe 3 times a day. Asia has no problem with kitty and doggy fillets, and eating things like rotten cabbage. Oh, and horses. In Japan, 'Trigger' gets a trip through the oven at 350 degrees, in our country, you'd have someone trying to shoot the chef that served up horsemeat at the dinnertable. Other countries get by on what amounts to rock soup, they don't have much so they don't eat much, so they have malnutrition and outright famine. People that complain about our country just have NO clue...

The language can be a problem, figuring out which side of the road to drive on. Customs/cultures that are different from yours, like giving a thumbs up is ok here but not in some places of the world. Trying to find food that is familiar or edible. Trying to find clean, drinkable water. Trying to find a bathroom. Exchanging your money for theirs.

Rude People, difficult to understand their language when they dont try to speak English and then get frustrated at you when you try to convey what you mean. Another thing I have found that people automatically dont like you because of your Nationality so they ignore you. Some countries are critical because of the country you come from... e.g If you're American they automatically thing you like war, or you think that Americans are arrogant etc. People all over the world are different and it pisses me off when others generalise because of what they see on TV.
