I heard on Obermann that many foreign countries now consider the US a rogue nation like Iran and N. Korea, is this true?

Now then, lets be as fair as possible. I am not going to state what any other nationalities think... i am not god!... but i will relate to you a little story of my day today and the opinions of those i met:

I am now back in the UK , my homeland, by way of Dulles international airport and heathrow airport ( that's Washington and London)... I am jet lagged and very foul tempered as a result of the trip as well as exhausted by 18 hours of trains and planes.

Now i always use travel as a means to figure out the opinions of my fellow citizens of the world... I am that most terrible of things: the man who talks to you on long haul flights as a means of being pleasant and as a means to pass the time constructively.

Today's little chats were surprising, a German looked a little aghast when i suggested that George was only doing what he thought was right (re Iraq) and went out of his way to tell me Americans are a noble race. A french man was less inclined to chat but did mutter something about that madman in the white house. The two most startling ones were an Arab and a Jew in the smoking lounge at Heathrow... who were chatting with each other and were both quite in agreement on one very important point, that US foreign policy is at best clumsy and at worst criminal (note they used the term POLICY!).

My friend, Neither the vast majority of my fellow brits (at leastthe ones that i know personaly) nor myself hold America as a rougue state, but a dissproportionate majority of us (yup, me included) feel that you are being let down in the worlds eyes by a series of regretable choices and unforgivable statements by your elected representatives on BOTH SIDES of the house.... yes even some democrats have put their foot in it from time to time.

You chaps dont have the centurys of experiance that we brits and euro's do of dropping our respective nations in the poo! we know that it happens and that when we hash things up its best to admit it and move on.... not put our heads in the sand and stick star spangled banners in our bottoms to wave while muttering that its unamerican to be wrong.

I hope you all understand that i say this because i love the states and what you all realy stand for.... i care too much, now i am going to call my wife to let her know i landed safely and get some much needed sleep.

It depends what you mean. I don't know many governments outside IRan etc that would describe US as rogue.
However they may feel that the USA is taking a very aggressive foreign policy stance.
Many people in many different countries feel that the US foreign policy is aggressive, unjustified, counterproductive and making the world a more unstable place.

p.s. Yahoo.com is an international site not just for people from the USA. - you don't want people thinking the US is trying to take over the internet :-)

I just finished watching "The Torture Question" . I have to say, that Rumsfield is a piece of slime. He sends memos as to how far the guards should go in tortureing prisoners & when he is ques. by Sen. McCain, puts the full responsibility on the guards. The US had better win this war, because it could be Nuremberg all over again. Not only Rumsfield. Bush, Cheney, Col. Miller to name a few should be tried for crimes against humanity. Sen.McCain
knows what can happen, you torture and kill prisoners that you capture, you can expect the same to be done to your forces. That's why he challanged that bast*rd. Remember neither Bush or Cheney or Rumsfield ever wore a uniform in defence of their country. To them it's a big game to see how much money they and their friends can take the taxpayer for, and they don't care how many have to die, only in how it will affect the vote this fall.

Yes. It appears to be true.
Most other nations are quite aware that 9/11 was an inside job, and that the president lied about that. They are also aware that he lied about WMDs in Iraq.
They are also aware that he loves to make war.
Most people don't like war, or terrorism, and the US is responsible for both, so many people dislike the US and Israel far more than Iran, Iraq, or Lebanon.

Maybe kind of..

There are US soilders all over the globe with military bases at various places and attacking countries without un approval.

And then lecturing others about not making nuclear weapons, when it still has a hige huge pile and is the only nation in the world to have used a nuclear weapon to kill people.

Those are enough information for any left wing media to spread the image of USA. Of course there might more data available localy.

Well when other countries saw your Twin Towers coming down, they were celebrating in the streets. When people dove out of the buildings they were foaming from the mouth. You tell me???

You think you rule the world. You can't even win the BASKETBALL tournament with all of your coloreds. You can't protect 2 of your most important assets (twin towers..) you fight wars against the WEAKEST possible nations and bomb your own ALLIES (eg Canada) under the guise of "Friendly fire incidents..."

North Korea would nuke you into oblivion. You run a 12 hour clock. That's why the terrorists took you out in the AM because they know you have to do your pilates and take a dump first. North Korea will attack when least expected; HOPEFULLY!!

:)

Yes, it is true. I think by rogue, people mean "out of control". People realize that the United States no longer respects the rule of (international) law. They understand that the United States is guilty of horrific human rights abuses committed in the name of the War on Terror, and has committed what are clearly war crimes. They are shocked by the erosion of civil liberties in the United States itself. They are concerned by the extreme nationalism and overzealous patriotism, not to mention overt xenophobia, that emanates from America these days. In short, the United States is like a rogue elephant that must be stopped before it destroys everything around it.

I'm pretty sure Iran and N. Korea would have those sentiments. That is nothing new. Americas enemies will always feel that way until America kicks their a s s.

That is true. America is being projected by the left media of every country like that. CIA may have graese their palms a little more and in few years it can be reversed.
