We have been potty training for a week. It was going slow but going a lot better now. But today we put her down for a nap she obviously didn't want one she was talking and playing in her room so finally after a half hour we went and checked on her and she had poop everywhere. We don't put a diaper on her except at nap time and bed time. I know the poop being everywhere kind of a health hazard but the fact that she took the diaper off is that another sighn she's ready for potty training.

To me it would be an indication that it is probably time to really work on the potty training.

As far as the poop being spread all over everything, that isn't an unusual occurance for a baby. My son did that also when he was "taking a nap". He was really quiet and we didn't even know he was awake. We went into check on him and he had his whole body as well as the whole crib just covered.

He was so proud of what he did, it was impossible to be upset with him. We just took him to the bathroom and gave him a bath and I took the crib outside and actually hosed it down then I washed it with some bleach water to help clean it and make it safe to use again.

Fortunately this is one of the shorter stages of life that they seem to go through.

Good luck.

No, that's a sign she needs a spanking.
Actually her own poop isn't a health hazard to her, only other people's poop. I read that in an article about kids pooping in the bathtub.
If my child did this I would tell her "Poop goes in the potty" and I would make her help clean it up using baby wipes, etc, and help put the flushable stuff in the potty and flush it. The next day I might try putting the potty chair in her room during her nap time and let her know she can sit in it or call you if she needs to poop.

Just clean it up, that's all you can do. My daughter was 2 and a half when I potty trained her and she is four now, but once in a while she still is too "busy" to use the toilet. She'll pee on herself outside. But if she can take her diaper off by herself and understands the whole "waste" process, its time. She knew that diaper would stop the poop, lol, so she wanted to see what would happen if it didn't stop the poop. good luck

make sure that your daughter knows that if she needs to go potty at nap time she needs to tell you. this is very important during potty training. also make sure she at least "tries" before nap and bed time. she may not have liked the feeling of the poop and tried to clean it up or just plain old played with it. try talking to her and asking her why she did it see what she gives you for an answer. Make sure she know this is not an acceptable behavior and isn't good for her health.

If she continues to do this you may need to make some other evaluations. is she out growing her naps(this happens sometimes around the same age as potty training) do you need to at least during nap time provide her with clothing she cannot get into(which may set her backwards). this is something only you can evaluate.

good luck and happy potty training

that is definitely a sign. Dont just let them lay around in poop but make sure that they understand that potty training is fun. Make it fun for her. My son learned quickly. He was tired of wearing pee filled diapers for long periods of time. Every one has different methods of potty training.Check with her so often to see if she has to poop or pee. They will do either one

yeah it is a sign they are getting used to thier bodies and freedom - the poop everywhere maybe a shock to the system but just say oh dear and clean it up - maybe it was a hint that they were going to do it
surely if they are old enough to potty train - they are old enough to go without a day time nap - particularly if they hadnt indicated they wanted one

Bless your heart for trying to see that in a positive way. I think at one time or another every parent walks into a poop disaster like that. (yikes!) Good luck with potty training.
