My name is Jake Oblongata and my Daughter whose name is Medulla is always being laughted at by the other kids. Why?

well first how old is Medulla
and for god's sake
Jake you didnt find another name except Medulla
yea its unique but there are lots of names thats r unique
Prudence,Lana,Arianna,Mayan
i know its not time to change it
but if the girl is yet young and in those first grades
if its possible change the name
but if she is old enough
i guess it might be she is acting shy according to the name
you cant stop the other kids from laughing at her
but try to break through ur kid
and see where it all went wrong
as who survived the class mates mockery and laughter
but hopefully this wont affect ur daughter's emotions
there are too many reasons for others to do that
and mainly it turns out others feel less and get afraid of a certain person
so they start acting like that to feel better...

Some times people are crude. Yet, we must be careful what we name a child. I've been laughed at all my life about my name and called everything but my name, because people don't know how to pronounce it. Very few people know how to spell it. Even fewer know what it really means. Change her name now before she experiences some of the realities of the real world when she grows up. All kinds of misunderstanding will arise around her name, and she will find herself answering more questions about her name than you can imagine. Stop this now if you'll US citizens. Don't send her through what I've experienced. (example of some of the questions I've been asked are: "No I want your name", "Is that your name", "What was your mother and father thinking of", "Spell it for me", "calling me everything but my name", I even had to legally declair myself a women not a man, I was declared dead one time and all business stopped for me including my bank account. Say she fall and has something happen to her medulla (God forbid), and boy the problems begin. No change it now and let her know why. The US is a crule place to live.

I will say that such is the case because no one really knows the details behind the laughter, must probe into this a little further, you know, and I love a few of the other answers!!!!

My suggestion would be to set up a conference with her teacher. Her teacher will probably know more about the classroom situation and will probably be able to tell you more than your daughter can.
