FYI, Islam is just and peaceful. The Quran teaches peace. The reason Muslims are being offended because they are being pressured all over the world even in their highly-pop Muslim countries like Iraq, Afghanistan, etc. Anyway, think. WHY WOULD ALL MUSLIMS BE OFFENDED ABOUT THE POPE AND CARTOON CRAP. Well here is my answer and through my several studies
1. If you go to those places where Muslims are "Protesting" like Turkey and Pakistan, there are maybe around 100 or 200. Unlike Pakistan and India, maybe a slightly more. Those people are called in the American Dictionary "Fundementalists". Yes, I feel that Muslims are taking the religion a litte hard on themselves.
2. Just like the Muslims shouldn't be offended by this, so should the Clerics and High Officials of Islam's Universities. It looks really bad and immature. If they are real Muslims, they should just ignore at it or at least discuss in a just manner rather chanting and start riots " Death to Infidels " (Cont)

Salam. I am also muslim and i was very very shocked that the Pope didn't apoligize for what he stated. After all, he is the Pope and to claim something of that magnitude well..he better have some back up, b/c as the brother said, "islam is based on peace" and that is what the Quran teaches. If you dont think so, then i dont think your reading the Quran right and the sunnah. They come hand in hand. you can't read one and not read the other.
I think the Pope is ignorant for making such remarks and being a person of such religious authority to make marks like the ones he made yet, whatever he said was wrong.
Get your facts straight and then speak.
Granted, when muslims all over the world are rioting and think they are helping the muslim ummah..they are just making it worse by proving that whatever the people have stated about them is in fact, true.
I think muslims need to stop rioting for no reason and be smart and start thinking and taking action my words and speech and newspapers, not by burning stuff and shouting.

YES... Muslims in the Middleeast are going through the Middle Ages, like Christianity in the Middle Ages (Dark Ages). Have you noticed that Western Muslims don't do riots, but peaceful demonstrations or dialogue? the middle east is expressing an upheveal because the people are not at rest because the society doesn't allow people to express themselves, but the riots is a way from them to vent on frustrations inside. they will not stop acting this way until the Middle East evolves to a democracy. Remember Muhammad came almost 600 years after Jesus. So we (Muslim civilization) are about 600 years behind. If you research the dark ages in Europe, you will see it is undenibly the same, there too were also riots, and the government controled people by using Christinity, and remember the proptestant sect came, to support literacy and the freedom to be a self study Christian. The restlessness you see happening in the Arab world is simply Europe reoccuring. It the natural process of government and society. Wish i was Muslim during the Prophet Muhammad time, or 1000 years from now. But I am grateful for life and maybe things will work out for the best. A big maybe for anytime soon. Muslim in Western Society reflect how Muslims and government 1000 or so years will act. Maybe less, Bush is not all that stupid you know, but he is evil. His application and articulation are just not the best that's all. Real Democracy in the East is the only way to divert violence. But I'm afraid the people will have to do it themselves. U.S. foreign policy maybe delaying that change. Now Muslim point of View: Muslims feel an obligation to protect the Prophet of Islam, if we didn't speak up, it would have been like we were agreing with him. Most of us fear God and believe it is sacrial religious to let people walk over your faith. He went through a lot to bring Islam to us, he was a noble man and doesn't desever to be lied about. -Muslim

dude, i m a Pakistani Muslim, and i m slightly offended by u. u used the word 'fundamentalist' as if it is a bad thing. as u said, that its according to American Dictionary, so i don't give a crap what they say. what i know is that i m a Proud Fundamentalist Muslim (mind u, Not extremist, fine line b/w them), and i believe each and every Muslim should be a Fundamentalist.
Fundamentalist literal meaning is that, who adheres strongly to the fundamental laws and values of a doctrine. for example, a good doctor is that who is a fundamentalist in the concepts of medical science, similarly a True & Good Muslim is that who adheres to The Principles of Islam. and if anyone does Not adheres to such socially-inclined doctrines, then he won't be much of a help to the society, like a doctor who doesn't believe in the fundamentals of medical science, and instead uses his own brain to treat patients, is more likely to kill them, which doesn't make him a good thing for the society.
So, if all Muslims are to improve the society they live in, they Have to be a Fundamentalist Muslim, and there is no other way. don't fall for the trap-of-words that the westeners set. Be a Fundamentalist Muslim, but Not an extremist one (Islam Condemns extremism). Peace to All.
P.S. ........ wohoo!!! i reached level 3, with answering ur question.

Islam is N OT peaceful!
what i find astonishing is that in response to the popes reference to an ancient quote, Muslims are firebombing Christian Churches!
I was just at Disneyland today, and observed many Muslims there.
Not once did anyone denigrate them in any way. Yet I know for a fact
that if I were to go to a fundamentalist Muslim country, not only would I be murdered in short order, but my body after wards would be dragged through the streets, spit upon, and torn asunder by your Muslim brothers. The fact that Islamists can exist in the US without the fear of the mob mentality that reigns in the Muslim countries is a testament against the Islamic claim of "peaceful". You people are exceeding the hypocrisy of the , catholic Church, and for a fact, all the churches that during the times of war betrayed themselves as blood guilty by encouraging their adherents to slaughter their 'brothers' in the times of war.
There is only one religion that discerned this hypocrisy and on both sides of all wars since WW2 have maintained neutrality.
That is for you all to find out. But as far as Islam being peaceful?
That is the most preposterous lying chunk of propaganda of the 21st century!

Thanks for some common sense...
The rioting of Muslims is proof positive that the Pope's statements are true, that Islam spreads by violent means.
So if the Muslims want to prove the Pope wrong they should have remained peaceful and do nothing ...
However, each time they get criticized they throw a violent and the world rejects this type of behavior as immature and very unspiritual....

it's the duty of EVER Muslims to defend Islam and the the holy Prophets.
it's an OBLIGATION. i would rather be called radical, fanatic, extremist or terrorist than allow these idiots to bad mouth God and his Prophets and keep my mouth shut.
