End of Poverty?

With all the wealth in the world and knowledge for attaining it, why must there be such severe global poverty. Really no excuses.

THE rich get richer because they LIVE LIFE. they seize ever opportunity life presents to them.they appreciate what they have. the poor get poorer because they do not appreciate what they have and do not take opportunities offered them, so they lose what they do have.

Interesting question and I used to agree with you, but here is one key issue.

I learned in my international business class that the biggest reason for poverty is that people in many countries cannot get title to land.

Think about this issue. If you want to start a business you need a way to raise money. How can you raise money for a business without a loan. How can you get a loan without capital.

At the same time, if you live on land that you cannot get clear title to, how do you stop paying rent or live in fear that you will be kicked off your land. Let's say you are a subsistence farmer and make a good crop. Let's say a person steals your land. They can take your crop.

No there is not, and the fact that the US has such abject poverty is ridiculous. We spend less on poverty alleviation in this country than the cost of a B1 bomber each year.

most of the people in poverty in america are there because they choose to be, other countries that have no food should simply get up and move to somewhere where there is food. the only reason poverty exists is because of laziness and closed mindedness. the unfortunate people who are in poverty because of circumstances beyond their control should be helped. so save your charity for the truly needy

Oh please. Poverty IS NOT my fault or my problem. If you're poor and starving then keep your f**king legs shut, if you can't feed yourself then you have absolutely NO business having children. Population control is the answer! We don't need to be sending food to the 'starving' countries....we need to be sending them birth control!!!!
