Apparently dogs are unclean in Islam and they have to wash if they touch one as it makes them "unclean".
If you are a muslim and you have a dog in your house the angels won't come near you apparently.
Not that I give a stuff - I love my doggies!!! Another good reason NOT to be muslim!!

Ok here goes. muslims are allowed to have dogs. but the thing is that its believed in their faith that dogs are unpure. dogs and pigs are unpure. so as far as these 2 animals go, when touched while the hand is moist, or wet it should be purified by running water. if the dog while being wet touchs the cloths or anything else, that thing should be washed with running water.if the dog, hand or cloths are dry then theres no problem and needent be wahsed, (purified). but there is something a little deeper, if a dog eats off a plate, the plate wont be purified by just running water, it should be soiled with dirt, by that i mean earth then wahsed, then soiled again then washed for i think seven times or less, im not sure about how many times it should be soiled and wahsed with running water. thats the only way the plate or thing that the dog has eaten off will be clean of its germ. lots of muslims have dogs and love their dogs, the only difference is that after they play with their dog or come in contact with the dog while being wet they wwould wash their hands under running water. its true lots of muslims run a mile off when they see dogs, but its more to do with ignorance as to the restrictions of comming in contact with dogs than really knowing why they run off a mile.

Yes, it is true that Muslims should not stroke dogs. But the same as some muslims do drink, some will also own dogs. Same as some jews love and eat bacon yet they r not allowed to eat pork, as muslims r not either. It just depends on how orthodox u r about yr religion.

I don't think its because they are not allowed, but more like THEY DON'T LIKE DOGS, I had a Japanese Akita, which can be very scary looking to some people, but whenever I was walking towards an asian person, they couldn't get away quick enough.
Quite funny really, but probably, because I do the opposite and walk straight up to dogs, even scary ones.
Yes, I have been bitten on a few occasions, many were years ago, but I was recently bitten by a flipping toy poodle. Let me tell you IT REALLY HURT. lol

A Muslim would consider it unclean if a dog touched his clothing as he has to perform wudu before praying (wudu means to wash before prayer) so the Muslim has to be clean. Let it also be a lesson to non Muslims also, that when a dog shoves its nose wherever it wants to, it is absolutely filthy to let a dog to lick you, also as a dog sweats through the tongue and not the skin, it is the same has putting your hands or face under someones sweaty armpit. "disgusting yes or no"? A true Muslim would never consider having a dog anywhere near him as dogs are considered unclean.

I generally find that most Asians are scared of dogs, particularly the Woman. A lot of countries consider dogs as vermin or food, not pets. I recently had a visitor over from Peru and she could not believe we shared our house with 2 dogs. Her daughter fell instantly in love with our two, unaware that she had eaten several in the past back in Peru. To many cultures dogs are just wild animals, it's no wonder they are scared.

not true muslims not allowed near dogs it is true though that islam is a very clean religion and a muslim must be clean when they pray at least five times a day, hence why they may not want to touch the puppy.

Dogs are considered unclean by Muslims. Their book states that angels will never enter a home where dogs live. Sounds like a good reason to keep a dog to me.

I believe that in certain 'sects' of Islam this is the case! A good friend and former housemate of mine was a Muslim from Brunei who had particular ethical issues with dogs.

I was not aware of dogs being forbidden, but I think pigs is a no no for Muslims. Notice, I said THINK which means I have no factual support for that.
