I wanted to enlist in the Army as 31B and be a machinegunner..But I also didnt want to be some grunt running around w/ a gun in the middle of the desert..I want to be in combat but not like that..I also wanted to be in aviation, not a pilot, but in aviation..A recruiter helped me out w/ combining these preferences in one MOS, not in the Army..But the AF, as an Aerial Gunner..

Iv looked into it and it really sounds exactly what im looking for, Im going to enlist after I graduate High School..And im wondering how hard is it to become an Aerial Gunner in the AF?..I dont want to be on a giant plane 30,000 feet in the air, but In a UH-60, or some other kind of helicopter..So a few people mentioned 15T..(Black Hawk Repairer), but I really dont see how that is ANYTHING like I want..

I WANT to be in a helicopter w/ a 7.62 or some other type of machinegun..Would that be 15T,Aerial Gunner, or some other MOS..?

Aerial Gunner looks the closest, but do I get to choose what kind of

The military will have you take an aptitude test.
From the results you will be offered a list of job opportunities that match the area's you are strongest in.
As far as getting written into your contract what you will work on - do not believe the recruiter if they say no problem.
Read the job description they give you.
If it does not specify - you will have not choice.
Once you are trained you will be put where you will be most needed on a plane or helicopter (unless the job description specifies).
I was in the A.F. for 20 year.
It is not for everyone.
Remember it is a dictatorship that is set up to protect democracy.
When possible they will explain the "why" of things, however you must be prepared to just be told to do it sometimes.
You are not always privileged to know the big picture.
That being said - it was a great 20 years and I would do it all again.
Good luck!
