NO DOG THAT NEEDS A FENCE

All dogs need fences to keep them safe. Get a fish!

Shelties are herding dogs and definitely need a fence, are extremely energetc and need lots of grooming.

Keep thinking on this one. I'm not sure you're actually ready for a dog.

I know...it is hard to decide but whatever you do RESCUE!!! PLEASE!! I visit our local shelters just to visit the poor sweethearts. If you visit shelters, pet adoptions, petfinders, etc. Eventually, in not too much time, you & one of those beautiful creatures will just know! You'll hear the music "Oh Sweet mystery of life at last I've found yooooooo!" The string section will rise with beat of your heart & you both will envision running together in a sunny meadow! REALLY! It feels that good to rescue! And it's wonderful to tell others when you're walking him......people are very impressed & may get encouraged to do so themselves. PS These rescue groups also have special breeds rescue so you don't HAVE to get a mutt....but...you know!

It seems like a Sheltie is perfect for you, if you have already had experience with one and you loved it maybe that is just the kind of dog that is just for you! But I have to say border collie's are sweet and loving! (patchy)

your being very specific you wont get a dog that doesn't need a fence or that doesn't pick a fight with other dogs etc believe me I'm a dog groomer and they really are the same apart from the size and coat type but i suggest a bassat hound as they are short haired medium sized and dont take a lot of training. good luck

You might consider a Corgi. They're incredibly loyal and smart and easily trained. They have energy, but are also very content to take a nice, day long nap. They're excellent companions and do well with all ages.
Good luck!

Until you realize that one of your prime responsibilities is keeping your dog safe, which means behind a fence, you shouldn't get any dog.
