Not to long ago about a 42in plasma t.v. and the dvd that came with it mentioned something about a digital antenna and how it could make the HD pictures look even better. My question is what is a digital antenna, and where can I find one?

I digital antenna, allows you to receive HD quality program in your TV, but its connected just as a regular antenna. Some homes don't use coaxial TV cable, so they can use a HD Digital Antenna to receive HDTV programs, the only different is the antenna scans to pick-up frequency that are strong to received, unfortunately you may not receive all the stations that you want.

They used to sell "colour antennas " until the public caught on that they were exactly same as a B/W antenna ! Same with digital , the antenna manufacturers are hoping to sell heaps of new antennas. A digital transmission is same as a analogue one, the difference is only in the information being transmitted, with digital the pic and sound information is converted to a series 1s and 0, and then decode in your TV back to the original info. everything else is identical to what you have now . How ever I suppose no harm in getting a shiny new antenna if you have plenty spare bucks to throw around !! Just make sure that your existing antenna is in good condition and everything will be ace !

There is no such thing. An antenna is an antenna is an antenna. The only thing that matters is the frequency band it is designed for (VHF or UHF). Since many transmitters send their digital signals on UHF station, some mfgrs may call these "digital" antennas, but that is wrong. Some stations transmit digital signals on VHF. If you can get a good analog signal from your antenna, it will work as an antenna for digital stations.

A digital antenna is just that... A digital antenna. As opposed to an analog antennae that most TV antenna users have. A digital antennae obviously picks up digital TV broadcasts from broadcasters, assuming they are already sending out a digital signal. I think it's 2009 that all signals will be digital which will help out HD and regular programming significantly.
