I'm not sure what you could give the dog "over the counter" but I do know that vets prescribe Rymadel (sp?) for stuff such as bad hips, arthritis, etc. A dog I had years ago had a vertibra that would bother her so the vet gave her Rymadel and she was fine.

I'm sure this wasn't what you wanted to hear but I would talk to your vet. As far as for pain right now, you might try calling your local pet store and see what they recommend as they might have something that will at least help temporarily.

Good luck!

Most of the time you can give her aspirin, if she doesn't have anything wrong with her that will prevent you from giving this. It is best to take her to the vet and they can give you some stuff. Just what ever you do do NOT put her on rimadyl it is a dog killer. It ate a hole in my dogs stomach, and killed her. Good luck.

If your child was in pain would you ask a bunch of people on the internet what to do?? NO, you would go to the doctor.
Be a little bit responsible and take your dog to the vet.

Over the counter medicines are generally not good for dogs. You CAN give her an 81mg Aspirin. However, you should take her to the vet as soon as possible for a better pain reliever. Aspirin can cause stomach and intestinal bleeding.

Coated aspirin or childrens chewable aspirin-I've done it for my dogs that have had arthritis. Consult a vet about the dosage though. Do not use Tylenol or ibuprofen!

For right now, you can give her one 4 or 500MG of aspirin. Give it with food. There is a medication you can buy at Petsmart or Petco, etc. called Rimadyl. It's for arthritis and hip pain. Also, I'd call tomorrow and get her an appointment with the Vet. He may want to do an ex-ray to determine the problem. For right now though, give her an aspirin every four hours.
