It is never easy to discuss that with your parents, but you must do so. Your only hurting your self by not talking to her about it. She loves you know matter what, and it may take some time, but eventually she will deal with it and not try to push her religion on you. She may never understand, but she should be able to deal with it. And if she can't maybe she will at least leave you alone about it.

And as for the one that said that you should always believe in god, people like that need to quit trying to push religion on others. We are each allow to have our own thoughts and opinions.

There will always be people that believe there is a god, but just don't worship him. And also there will always be people that do not believe he even exsists.

There are plenty of reasons out there that prove that this is really no god. If most people would pay attention to the facts of history and compare it to the stuff wrote in the bible they would wonder also.

Be honest with her. If she really cares about you, she'll respect your feelings. It's a common thing for parents to push their own beliefs on their children only to be surprised and taken aback when their children don't reflect the same beliefs. In the end, you have to live your own life; it's not her decision to make. Eventually you'll find what you believe on your own. The best thing she can do if she wants to encourage you to follow her is be a good reflection of the positive aspects of what she believes. To paraphase, spouting hellfire and brimstone isn't an attractive way to get someone to agree with you. Take some time to "soul search" and explore different faiths. Nothing says to have to commit to a particular church, denomination, or religious school of thought. I'd recommend watching a movie called "Dogma" directed by Kevin Smith. It has some open-minded ideas about faith.

gday well ihad the same problem when i was living at home,,,i think it is a bigger problem then your question...
But i dont think your problem is with loving god,,i feel that it s religion that becomes the problem most of the time for it can turn people away from god.Religion isnt God.the church isnt God.
for example the so called war on terrorism(muslims being discriminated against, other wars have been thought with similar
undertones,,hitler,english,irish.
in my case my parents r JW jehovahs witness. and they tried to bring me up as one,,as you , it became very difficult i was even bashed, sexualy abused an the church covered it up...iat this time in my life ,i did not beleieve in god ever.

, i say to my parents now ,,, that god loves me anyway ,,thats what god is; love ,he doesnt descriminate for he is in the hearts of all men.
it does matter if you believe or not he still loves you. For it is inside us (love) and its the same thing.
you need to be able to find your own spirituality with no pressure.
God is what you believe to be god.
Some people have many gods.
Within time you will find that peace,,,
Some say praying and thinking is the same thing.
Mother nature is my God .

Be sure that you really dont believe in God first before you tell her that. There are more reasons to believe than not. Anyway, Telling her you dont believe will just cause her to defend her faith even more, do you really want to go through that? I would just let her know that you are still searching, that is a safe and honest answer.

Well firs decide why u don’t believe in God and who u believe in and why u believe in that person/thing/religion. That would make it easer to let ur mom know why u don’t believe rather than just not believing. U have to know that this might destroy ue relation ship if u tell ur mom, but it will destroy ur live if u don’t tell her, so its realy hard to do this.

I went through the same problem but it worked out for me because I found out why I couldn’t believe in God, and my mom helped me to see why it was important to believe… personally I would tell u to sit down and discuss the problem in a calm way, and not in a defending/aggressive way, let ur mom feel as if u want her help and advice

Sit her down, make sure you have her full attention, and explain it,.. carefully; say that all you ask for is her understanding that you don't feel the same way about religion and that you feel it's not, and has never been a part of you; that it's not in your blood,.. but also explain that you respect her decision to believe what she likes,.. but to not involve you in any of it; except maybe where she may ask you for a listening 'ear' if she needs to talk about aspects of it that she needs to get off her chest.
Hope this helps,....

First make sure your decision is for real and that you have researched every avenue to prove to yourself that He truly does not exist. After that, then figure out how to tell her. I promise, if you really research, history, Bible, Science etc. you will not have anything to say by the time you are through. I mean where did your eye come from, all the details and working of it... Don't get into fads... It will only hurt your family and only educated decisions are worth your time.

It feels to me that you are still on your journey of discovery, and at the moment you have made a decision not to beleive in God, do you believe in any deity figure?

you could perhaps use the analogy of a journey to state where you are at the moment...

I am a Xtian and wasnt always, the path is yours to choose, i will pray for you.

Look for a good time to talk to her (dont tell her when shes in a bad mood/tired from work, etc.) and just explain to her that you have trouble in having faith in god, and explain why, don't just say you don't beleive; youve got to make her understand why not..that way she might be able to accept it better because she'll know that you've seriously thought about it. hope that helps!
