Is there some middle ground that will let you test the waters? Something like "I think you're great!"?

It's hard to take a statement like that wrong, and the guy's response might tell you whether he was receptive to a romantic relationship. It might also give him the guts to make a move if he is interested - some guys are really nervous about getting rejected.

Best of luck!

It never hurts to tell anyone how you feel about them; love-wise. Some people do not know how to react to it, not because they don't appreciate it, but because the word love carries with it many cage bars that some people are not yet ready to be confined into. They thus like to wait to say and/or hear the word only once they are sure it's the person they want to be confined by.

It's NEVER a good idea to tell a guy you just met that you really like him.

I would let him make the first move just to make sure that you two are on the same level. If you're feelings are more intense than his, you wouldn't want him to take advantage of your feelings.

I'd wait to make sure he's not just being friendly. You wouldn't want to ruin the friendship if that's all he wants. Keep it social but make sure he knows you like him alot, just not in that way yet. Work up to it gradually.

I wouldn't tell him, Let him tell you first then you would know if he is playing u or he really likes u. If he know u really liked him he could use that to get what ever he wants, even if he doesn't like u that much.

I would just tell him then go from there he might be thinking the same thing but unsure how to approach the situation. You will never know until you do something.

It is a good idea if you are ready to accept the decision he gives you on his opinion of you. Honesty is always the best policy....noone likes headgames.
