Some Catholics are Christians - some Baptists are Christians, some Lutherans are Christians, etc....
Being a certain faith doesn't guarantee that you are a true Christian. You can go to any church but that doesn't make you a Christian. It is all about having a personal relationship with God through His Son, Jesus Christ and trusting Him for your salvation by His death. We live by faith by His grace.

However, the label (Catholic, Lutheran, Baptist, etc.) defines the way that you practice your faith.

The Council of Nicea defined Christianity. As it was a Catholic event, I'd have to say that Catholics are indeed Christians. Oh, and Catholics do NOT worship statues. Do you keep photos of your loved ones in your wallet? SAME THING! As to prayer to Mary and the Saints, don't you ask your friends to pray for you? Again, it's the SAME THING. Prayer is just communication. It is most emphatically NOT worship! The only people who worship Mary and the saints are uninformed little old ladies. However, the Church is being negligent in not making this clearer.

Christian means: A walk like Christ. Yes, I do rely on him for my salvation. I prefer to answer most questions with " I " messages. I feel that no one can argue with that. Have a Bless Day to what ever you believe in.

I honestly don't know.. They base their entire faith on Matt 16:18.. Where Jesus "gives Peter (their 1st pope) the keys to heaven"... but strangely, they never read on from there, or that's the end of their bible... Cause in Matt 16:23 Jesus calls Peter satan, cause he was savoring the ideas of man (which is typical of the RCC of today as well). Further more in Revelation Jesus has the keys in heaven... Also in Rev where they talk about the woman who rides the beast, and who deceived so many kings, the angel of God said that the 7 horns of the beast was actually 7 hills on which the woman lies.. (The Vatican was built on 7 hills)... Anyway there are loads of shady Catholic doctrine... Feel free to email me.

The reason Americans (especially in the South) don't think of Catholics as Christian's is because we are taught the THE ONLY WAY TO GOD IS THROUGH CHRIST JESUS. Yet Catholics say all the time, I pray through Mary or this or that saint to intercede.

HOW? If the only one that can get your prayer answered is Christ Jesus? Or don't you believe the Bible when it says that?

Also, no one but God can forgive our sins, especially NO MAN.

The Bible has no mention of Purgatory.

Veneration of saints IS idolatry.

Nuns were "borrowed" from Buddhaism.

The roasary was "borrowed" from Buddhaism.

The Catholic Church is mired in apostasy in its beliefs.

ALSO, THE APOSTLE PAUL WANS THAT ONE OF THE IDETIFYING FEATURES "OF THE APOSTASY" that was to come would be enforced celibacy, "forbidding to marry." (1 Tim. 4:1, 3) (which Priests are now forbiddin to do!!!) Also, some meats would not be allowed to be eaten (which the Catholic church made true on fridays, for many, many years and during lent still) and the Bible warned also about this coming about.

Read this book, it explains it all AND WAS WRITTEN BY A CATHOLIC PRIEST!

The thing I do not understand is why so many people to not consider the Catholic Church a Christian church. It is the first of the Christian churches.

These are people who accept Jesus as part of the Trinity. The Catholic Church is just one of the denominations of Christianity.

There are some major doctrinal differences between Christians and Catholics.
some highlights:
Communion (true body & blood, or symbolic)
Papal Authority over the church (Pope? or did Jesus retain authority over His church.)
Salvation based on grace rather than grace-plus-works (Scriptural accuracy)
Purgatory (scriptural evidence?)
Catholic exclusivity for entrance into heaven

From a personal stand point, the official teachings of the Vatican as laid out in Vatican II (1964) place extra-Biblical requirements on followers of the Catholic faith.

As far as I know all Catholics are Christians, but not all Christians are Catholic. I thought that when people say "Christians and Catholics" they mean "Catholics and other Christians."

The definition of a Christian is a person who imitates Jesus Christ and obeys his teachings and commandments.
There are true Christians and false ones (MATTHEW 7:21-23)

The only way we can imitate & follow him is to read the Scriptures.
For example: - he commands his followers to "go and make disciples of all the nations" & to teach them
(MATTHEW 28:19,20)
Are you doing that?
