They assist the priest at mass. Like, they bring the wine to the table, they hold the prayer book, etc. They were supposed to be priests in training but now it's just a way to help in your church. Yes there are altar girls I was one. They are called altar servers. But it used to be that only boys could be altar boys. Now to make it fair it's altar servers for boys and girls.

They assist the priest at the altar during mass, and yes there are altar girls. Actually, it isn't even limited to children. My grandfather is an altar server at his church.

With all thats coming out about the catholic church and boys, I'd say alter boys are their for the priest to get their jollies off. Personally, I think its an absolute atrocity that priests use there position to get into a boys pants....Damn religion

You wouldn't be allowed because the Priests only prefer little boys....
