1 lb = 16 oz
1 c. = 8 oz
but measurements are best if done on a scale when it comes to the recipe asking in pounds.

It depends on what it is you are trying to measure weight of. If you are measuring water- the old rhyme "a pint's a pound the whole world round" will help. There are four cups in a pint, so a cup of water weighs 1/4 pound. The ounce markings are for liquid measure only- not related to weight in terms of pounds and ounces. For other dry items, I suggest you buy a cheap scale.

You can't...pounds are a measurement of weight so you need a scale. Cups measure volume...or how much space something takes up.

You don't a cup is a unit of volume, a pound is weight.
A cup of cornflakes weighs significantly less than a cup of lead shot.
