Its probably not your computer. Its the type of connection and speed you have from your isp. dial up is the slowest and broadband comes in different packages with different download speeds.

Nope you need more ram or a better conection.
I had the best connection out there (T1) and i would be downloading slow or i would join my internet games real slow. So i just bought more ram which increased the way i downloaded.

ex: download manager or download acceleration but best way is
you must improve your Internet connection
