We feed our miniature dachshund 1/4 cup of dry food twice a day. She gets about 1 tbsp. of canned food mixed in for flavor. She weighs about 10 lbs., which is the high end of the right weight for a mini. She is really active and runs like a maniac! Keeping a close eye on their weight is a major factor in avoiding problems with their neck or back.
Good luck...they are major chow hounds!

Usually following the directions on the dog food is a good place to start, but if you see that he/she is getting fat cut them back. Feeding them two - three times a day is better then feeding them all at once in one feeding. Good luck.

Sometimes it will tell you on the back of the bag. We ahve bigger dogs that eat three small servings a day so if your dog bag or can does not give any directions you can ask your vet or feed it once in the morning (small amounts) and once in the late afternoon.

She will do best being fed twice daily, about a cup to a cup and1/2 each feeding, depending on her weight, the brand of kibble, and her activity level..

Once a day is fine. Contact a vet and ask how much, you don't want to over feed them, they will get fat.
