In my history class I had two years ago, we learned that Spain use to have a colony in Florida called St.Augustine. I was wondering do people of Spanish descent still use the language or are the spanish speakers mainly of latin american descent?

Saint Augustine is a nice beach town south of Jacksonville. Florida is a mish-mash of cultures constituted of american, carribean, central and south american people. many different dialects of Spanish.

btw, Alene is wrong Tallahassee is the state capital

St-Augustine is a beach town on the Atlanctic south of Jacksonville and north of Daytona Beach....
It has historic museums and historic buildings....
Is isn't the capital of Florida.....
Spanish is evrywhere in Florida... even the phone and state goverment offers a choice of English or Spanish communication.
Miami is actually more Ispanic than English.....
Because of the closeness of Central America, Mexico and all the Carabeans Islands, yes, the Spanish is from America rather than Spain...
Would it surprise you to hear French in Louisiana state? Some people kept a few words from the original 1763 French spoken there... It is hardly French, but we can understand some of it when in a song..., etc...

St. Augustine is the capital city of the state of Florida, but the spanish speaking people in Florida are mainly of latin american descent.... mostly cubans and puertorricans and every other country in Latin America.

Having holidayed in Orlando, there are still people there that speak spanish, and I'm told that Miami still has quite a large Latin community.

Not really like some parts speak Spanish because they come from Cuba but i have never seen someone speak Portuguese so dont i dont think so
