Anyone else frustrated that they are doing away with the layaway? I'm upset about not because that's the only way I can get my kids gifts, but because that is the BEST way to hide the gifts until right before christmas.

to complain call 1-800-walmart or go to walmart.com, click on contact us and ask that this decision be reversed. i did both, the only way that we may get walmart to change their decision is if we get everyone nationwide, state to state to call or e-mail or both and complain!

kmart has layaway and if walmart does away with layaway i plan on using kmart, for info about kmarts layaway call 1-800-549-4505 or go to kmart.com and click on contact us and ask them to send you some info. on their layaway.

target does not and i e-mailed them and asked if they thought about getting layaway, for noe they say no.

I completely agree, During Christmas I depend on it every year. I'm on a fixed income and cannot just go out and buy something big all at once. Layaway was a way for me to but my children what they want and don't have to worry about hiding it until the big day. My house doesn't have very many hiding places and my children get very nosy that time of the year.
I think this year the other department stores are getting my business. Walmart is going to regret this move, I truly believe,

That kinda sucks that Walmart is doing away with its layaway program.I know that alot of parents used layaway to hide presents of the kids up until christmas or whatever holiday. Also,if you dont have the money to pay for the stuff all at once,it was good to lay it away. They said thay because more ppl are shopping online or with credit cards these days, they have noticed a decline in layaways.
Oh really???Well, thats not what I have heard from friends and family.
Well, altho I dont care much for K-Mart, at least they are keeping their layaway.

I agree. I used it for just that, to hide stuff. It did make it more convenient to pay on it but like I said, not the main reason I used it. I do see their point tho because have you ever seen the amount of trailers they have to fill at Christmas time to hold everything on layaway? It takes an hour sometimes for them to even get to your stuff.

They are trying to attract richer customers!! Instead of being loyal to the working class and lower class people who made WalMart. Why did they get where they are today?? Because of the rich people? I think not!! It make me mad. I don't use layaway that much, occasionally at Christmas, it is just the thought that they aren't interested in their $30,000/year families and they want those 50,000/yr customers!

i don't understand it. alot of people can't afford to out right buy clothes, toys, and other things for their kids. Layaway was perfect for them so they could get what they wanted and pay it out. no come first of the school year and christmas, you have to get things up front. i think they are stupid for this decision. it's not right.

No, I have never used layaway before in my life. Never known anybody that has ever used layaway in my life. That is what credit cards are for. I am guessing you will have to just save money to by gifts for your kids.

I agree. Don't shop there anymore. They are a terrible store in the way they treat their employees. I prefer Target and rarely go into Walmart unless I'm in a big rush.
