If your hair still smells bad after shampooing you could have a fungus on your scalp.
The fungus feeds on the oil secreted by hair follicle sebaceous glands.
Treating smelly hair involves shampooing the scalp with a shampoo or bar soap, having generous amounts of sulfur.
You should consult with your doctor and ask about a sulfur shampoo regimen.

A few questions back at you, first:
Is your hair more oily than usual while you've noticed the smell? Sometimes it may be due to a change in hormones or even to compensate for an overly dry scalp. Alcohol in many hair products also irritates the scalp, so try a mild (baby) shampoo and see if that helps. After drying your hair, there's an old wives' tale that (a little) astringent, witch hazel or concoction of three parts aloe vera to one part lemon juice should work to reduce the oil.
Hope you don't have this problem, mate, but given that the odour keeps returning after regular shampooing the prob may be a fungus/bacteria that lives on oil from the scalp.
Try keeping your hair/scalp dry to slow down bacterial/fungal growth and thus reduce odour. Since regular shampooing with over the counter shampoo just doesn't do the trick, using antibacterial shampoo/soap/body wash [possibly with sulphur (10% or so)] should help. If it's really bad, consider seeing a doctor who may suggest topical anti fungal or antibacterial agents along with oral application. Beta-lactam antibiotics, tetracycline, and erythromycin are common.
Good luck.

Quit using head & shoulders. Buy American Crew shampoo, it's sold in salons, & it's for men. Or Buy Paul Mitchell Tea Tree shampoo (sold in salons). They have somewhat of a clean mint smell, it may not be the exact smell you're looking for, but the smell is great & it lasts, plus, it's a lot better for your hair & scalp. If you like to wear a gel, American Crew has great gels that smell good too.

Dont wash your hair everyday it takes the natural oils out of your hair and is bad for you as it would make your hair smell after a while. Change the shampoo that you are using and if you have dandruff get a different shampoo that has that anti dandruff in it. i hope this helps!!

The more junk u put in your hair , the more it tries to fight it and the oilier and smellier it will become.
Try using johnsons baby shampoo, kind on hia so u can use it every other day, or less often if u like. All these answers you have had are misinformation.Overwashing the hair is one of the worst things u can do and over stimulates the sebacious glands.=smelly.
here check out this link
also check the onlineeeee answer, try coaltar shampoo.

First, make sure that you really MASSAGE into your scalp and lather the shampoo before you rinse it off. Take your time and don't hurry otherwise your hair will not be thoroughly cleansed. The massage will ensure that the shampoo cleans right down to the roots (and it will also refresh your tired brains!).
After that, condition your hair lightly with a suitable conditioner for your hair type.

You can continue to use the head and shoulders, but you need to concentrate on shampooing your head and not just your hair. Use your fingertips directly on your scalp and scrub away. Your head will smell much better.

When you've washed & towel dried your hair, rub in some essential oil, while it's still damp. You only need 1 or 2 drops, put it on your hands first then rub into your hair.
If you don't know where to get it, go to your local health food shop & they should be able to tell you.
You may think this sounds girly but you'd be wrong, there's alot of 'manly' oils available, you just need to find one to suit you.

forget all that stuff and go to the salon and buy "American Crew" shampoo and conditioner for men. It has a manly smell and the conditioner has peppermint oil in it, which makes your hair smell minty.....good luck
