Is it actually HURTING them, or just scaring the shite out of them?
If the latter, it is in cat's natures to stalk...and they really like playing mischief on their own families. Leave the cat alone.
If it's actually hurting a child or adult, try declawing it. I had one cat I needed to declaw because of this. Of course, she learned how to run after my daughter and jump up and nip her butt, instead of scratching her ankles. The cat eventually grew out of this at about 3 years.

He is instinctively hunting. He needs a garden to hunt in everyday. Some people that claim that they are cat people try to say that cats should only be inside, but that isnt true. Cats need time to play outside like a kid, if you have a safe neighborhood, and he or she is fixed, giving the kitty time to play everyday for like an hour is going to get that urge satisfied.

Introduce some new and interesting toys into the cats life. It's just a stalker by nature and not something you could or should try to change... just get it a new toy or two.. they make all kinds of spring action toys that the cat can enjoy for hours.

Some times it does take a while but cats will get used to a new pup just try to slowly get them to interact with each other you got to think it was the fur balls domain first. most likely the cat is just trying to let the dog know that. and you don't want them in separate parts of the house then they never get use to each other and when they do see each other it will be holy hell for them and you

I am sorry that your cat is stalking your family, but he/she is playing and wants attention.
My cats do this all the time and there really isn't anything you can do, except give the cat more love and attention when he/she is doing this.
Good Luck with your stalker.

Water gun or spray bottle set on stream. Tieing one's shoes helps too, in case thats why the cat is stalking, to play with your untied shoe strings.

well when you catch it in the act use a loud but firm voice and say don't or no or watever you want to use...also use a squirt bottle...however if you just do this without catching it in the act of stalking, the cat will not understand your reasons for doing it because it didn't know wat it did wrong...
