what does Absinthe liqueur taste like and what color is it?

Amazingly, I have been able to try it. Ok, it's very, very strong, which explains why it has to be diluted with 5x the amount of water, and a sugar cube. It tastes like licorice or fenne/anise, and can only be sipped a little at a time. It WILL get you drunk, but not "stupid, frat boy, lampshade-on-my-head" drunk. more like, "aahh, I'm relaxed: let's watch the Golden Girls" drunk (which is what I did).
It's vibrant, but pale green in color.
If you can somehow get your hands on the bottle, try it!

You have to wonder why people don't at least take a glance at the wikipedia entry, yahoo even gives you quick search access.

Traditionally the color comes from soaking a second set of herbs in the distillate to add more flavor and color it with the chlorophyll.


That being said fake absinth (stuff that only calls itself absinthe) can taste horrible and have no anise flavor. Any absinthe can also use artificial coloring (instead of the natural coloring of a true verte) to turn it any color, such as red or fake green or green-blue, etc.

Absinthe wont make you hallucinate, and before it's said, thujone doesn't matter and is not the "active ingredient" in absinthe.

It tastes very strongly of anise/liquorice but with a bitterness.

It's green, but can range towards a brownish green depending on its origin.

It's Green. I haven't tasted it, but i heard its minty. Many EU coun tries have no longer banned it.

absinthe is like a drug, which ometimes causes halucination need i say more, or do you wanna look like a high dumbass? it is also very bad for your body, but if you want to even know about absinthe you are one of the those wierdos who will try anything once, hope you don;t end up in rehap or in an uncompromising position.
