We live in the middle of nowhere and we struggle with fun places to take our kids, too.
We have found that some of their favorite places are:
The children's museum
Here they have a lot of kid friendly exhibits. The exhibits allow the children to play and explore science theories without even realizing they are learning. These places are usually pretty inexpensive, we've found about 3-5 dollars per child - but they have a blast.
Indoor play places. (KidsZone or KidsClub)
They are great for letting the kids just burn some of their energy. The one near here is three stories of indoor playland. They can jump, bounce, slide, run, etc. It's great.
The Park.
Very inexpensive - FREE. This is a great choice especcially while the weather still permits outdoor play.
The Library
I know that it isn't a great place to run and play - however, a three year old in a library is great. They have the option of scanning through the books, do a computer program, play with some of the toys that the library provides, and interact with other kids. Plus it is great to have some one on one time with your child and a book - they can discover what kinds of books they enjoy.
Community Events
We also like to see what events are going on in the area. Because we live in a small town. We like to go to the parades, fishing tournaments, carnivals, high school games...
It really depends most on what your town has to offer. Good luck and Happy playing.

It really does depend on where you reside. Here we have several options, 1. Adventure Land in Farmingdale LI NY. Or another good place is Kids Play in Medford. They both also have some fun for the kids in us.
Another great place is the Holtsville Ecology Park.

There's probably a lot of parks in the area chocked full of fun stuff. If not, then school yards (during non-school hours) are lots of fun. And check into Pump-it-Up...indoor inflatable playground. If there isn't one in your area, there's undoubtedly a competitor.
Look in doctor's offices and children's specialty shops (even child care centers) for a local parenting magazine. They will have listings of places, classes, events, party ideas, and more for kids. You'll find more to do than you can believe!!

I live overseas but in the states I would contact one of the larger child care centers and they might be able to tell you where you can take your little ones to play. Here we have a indoor play area with a huge blow up castle and miniature golf and go carts. If you are military they might have something on base for your kids to play.

I took my son to a local gymnastics place. They do birthday parties. It was $100.00 for him and seven friends. And of course all of the families. They played for an hour and then the last 1/2 hour we did gifts and cake. We didn't need to buy to many decorations either. It was money well spent! We just did snacks and cake! Perfect for their attention span. My son just turned 2. Hope this helps!!!! Brownsburg, IN

try taking them to a playground. There are lot's of them out there and they all have different things that they can play on. Try taking them to a new one every week and then just go back and forth between the different parks, that way they will not get board with one.

The only places I took my daughter for playtime was either an indoor playground like ones at mcdonalds or burgerking. I guess it depends on where you live.

Dave & Busters. they have a number of of video games and the skeetball and different video games to win tickets and "purchase" toys and different products. very very like Chuck e Cheese, yet as much as date. they actually have a pair categories of nutrition places in them. sit down "eating place" form eating, bar & grill eating. that could be a brilliant form of exciting for adults too. i think of maximum of them, if not all, are purely open to adults AFTER 10pm till like 12am or 1am. They then serve alcohol. i like it!!
