Great question!
But I don't think there's an answer, since God always has been, and always will be.
Each person has their own concept of God or a "Higher Power".
In my belief God is everything, in everything, of everthing. He is the energy in everything. So therefore, every sound you hear is God, every experience, every thought, every breath.. God doesn't talk to you through voice, because there is not a need, he talks to you in every moment, every sound, everything you see, taste, smell.. and if you listen really closely, you'll hear the answers.
Is God only here for Christians? I find that doubtful. What about the Jews? Why not the Muslims? Why not Buddhists? I believe God is expressed through all of those religions. I personally choose the religion of Christianity, but I think God is there for everyone, not just a selected few.
So.. instead of reading and researching looking for the answer to your question, go outside, look at the stars, and whisper "God, tell me about yourself" and then get quiet, look at the stars, and listen..and let God flow through you.

The question of defining the term god is extremely problematic - every sort of theism and every sort of theistic religion seems to have their own definitions. Indeed, there are so many definitions that when a person says they believe in a god, it isn't a very good idea to assume that you know what they are talking about. The wisest course of action is usually to ask them what they mean.
The root of the term (from Gothic root gheu; Sanskrit hub or emu, "to invoke or to sacrifice to") means either "the one invoked" or "the one sacrificed to." This indicates that whatever one calls "god," the relationship is not passive - instead, there is an active submission of the believer.
Some common characteristics of gods include: supernatural, powerful or all-powerful (omnipotent), loving or all-loving (omnibenevolent), wise or all-knowing (omniscient), creator of all existence, etc.

No one made God. He just is. John 1:1 In the beginning there was the Word. The Word was with God, and the Word was God.
We can't see Him today because He is Spirit. You can hear His voice, you only need to quiet your soul and listen.
First you must be a born again Christian...
Give your life to Jesus, repent your sins...and you will hear your Shepards voice.

We cant see him because we were kicked out of his presence because we became sinners.
People in the past have heard his voice in the Bible and we will be hearing it again!
Even the smartest, wisest, most knowledgable man of God in history couldnt hope to understand how God came into being. If you get to Heaven though, you will get to know!

No one made him he has always existed, he is eternal, no one can see him because he is not of this world. He is in the spirit world, you will be able to see him when you leave this life and go into the next. HE IS INVISIBLE TO THE HUMAN EYE, BUT, BUT, BUT HE IS VERY REAL, AND VERY ALIVE..

All haters believe that the elements are eternal, right? Who made them? See what a dumb question this is? If not you aren't smart enough to be a hater. After all they tell me that they have a monopoly on intelligence.... Jim

I do not know. I don't think any one will know. If they say they do know, than they are lieing. I think, maybe we will find the answer to that after we die. Maybe not even then.
