if u got a pc, then microsoft word has a few options. if you want a classic 3 panel 8.5/11 sideways brochure then heres how to make one:
1. go under file (top of screen on left), down to page setup
click around untill you find where it says portait to landscape
change to landscape
2. go under format down to columns
select the nuber of columns you want
click ok
3. if you want you can put lines in the margins (shown above space where you write) to show you where to fold by going to the draw toolbar and using the lines option to draw lines in the magins.
4. add text and print

Depends if you are a professional or not...

Designers use Adobe Indesign OR QuarkXPress.
These are for me the only two suitable programs...

Office word is a text program (you can do some editing here, but you're limited in your choices); Office powerpoint is a program suitable for slideshows and presentations, but not ideal to make brochures, then you'll be better off in Word...

Print Shop has a brochure maker, and will help you to get the brochures printed right.
