The word Christian means simply being like Christ.

Jesus walked on the earth around 2000 years ago. He lived a life doing the will of his Father. He lived and died so that we could be set free from the penalty of sin which is eternal death.

If you believe that Jesus is the Son of God and you choose to follow and believe his teachings than you are a Christian.

No one is a true follower of Jesus without living as Jesus lived.

Jesus said that we must do as he does. If we do, than we believe, and the truth of his teachings is apart of our lives.

Many people call Christianity a religion. But, the truth is religions are belief systems based on rules and regulations.
The Bible has rules for living. But, a relationship with Jesus is what makes someone a Christian, not how many rules that you follow. Without the grace of God know one would ever be good enough or ever obey enough rules to be a Christian. Faith is the beginning of what everyone needs to believe in Jesus.

Okay, this is scary. Even the 'Christians' here don't have a clear idea of how to become Christian. And it's really not that difficult. First, you have to recognize that you are a sinner, and realize that Jesus died in order to take the punishment for your sins. You must choose to turn away from your sinful lifestyle, and ask Jesus to come rule in your heart. It's also a good idea to read the Scriptures daily, especially at first, so you can know how Jesus would have you live your life now. Trust in the Lord, find a good, Bible believing church to help you understand what you are reading, and listen when the Holy Spirit speaks within your heart. God bless, and see you there!

If you have serious questions about what it means to be a Christian, I would suggest you go on an Alpha course - this is the time of year when many churches are starting one (often with a free meal thrown in!). You have a chance to hear what following Jesus is all about, why some people have chosen to do so, and discuss any questions you have in a non-pressuring environment.

It really depends, do you want to be a real christian or a new wave western evangelistic rapture seeking crazy head ?
It is quite easy to asses which type you should join, try these few simple questions...
1/ What do you prefer,
a. war
b. peace
2/ What is best,
a. brain washing
b. an all round education
3/ What do you find most relaxing,
a. guns and bombs
b. tea and biscuits

If your answers are mostly "a`s" go to america and join the crazies, if it is mostly "b`s" find a nice vicar or priest to have a quiet chat with and see if it will suit you.

Acknowledge your sins before God, Ask God for forgiveness, repent of the sins you have committed against Him, and put your faith and trust in Him alone. For only through Jesus Christ will you be forgiven, there is no other.

The more you read the Bible the more your faith will strengthen. You will know you are becoming a Christian because God will send the Holy Spirit, who is the comforter, into your heart and He will be your guide. And you will know as all true Christians know.

To become a Christian you must ask Jesus into your heart and allow Him to be the Master of your life. You can ask Him in a prayer alone or you can have someone witness your salvation. The Bible says we are to make our decision public. Most people involved in church will do it at church but you don't have to. Many people are saved on sidewalks, in prison cells, or at mass meetings when missionaries visit a foreign country. Baptism is showing publicly what you have experienced spiritually. All people who make the decision to follow Christ are not baptized.Ask God for forgiveness from past sins and try to live as Christ like as possible.I am thankful that you are interested in knowing how to become Christian and I pray that you make the decision to have peace eternally. My granddaughter asked Jesus into her heart in her bedroom all alone at the age of 10 this summer. She had been to Vacation Bible School for the week and made her decision!Best wishes!

You contact your local Catholic Church and sign up for an RCIA class (Rites of Christian Initiation). The class will meet for about two hours a week for one to two years. You will learn everything that you need to know to start walking your walk with Christ. After that time you will be baptized on the Easter Vigil and received into the Church with all of the other Christians the world over who are joining the Church on that same day.

Follow the teachings of Jesus Christ.

To become a Christian only takes faith that the living God sent His one and only Son to die on the Cross for our sins.

Ask Jesus into your heart, repent your sins...and follow Jesus.

I would get a Holy Bible. Any translation (EXCEPT The World Translation) and start in the New Testament with the book of John. Just find a translation that is easy to read and understand. (Personally, I like the NLT - New Living Translation and NIV...) Easy reads! The addy below has different translations and is free to read on-line.

Grace to you and God Bless!
