Getting layers is the only thing I can think of. You can keep your length and get rid of some of the dead hair.

Dont cut it all off, just a trim will do wonders, u need to regularly get it trimmed every 10 to 12 weeks, JUST the dead ends! Use a body building shampoo and a good moisturizing conditioner if u want it fuller, dont apply conditioner all the way to scalp tho, it will be flat, best is to flip hair over and apply almost to scalp. Deep condition hair once a month. hot oil, reconstructer pack, etc. a cool water rinse after shampooing seals cuticle layer down to smooth it better, there are products to give shine, comes in a gloss or spray. let hair air dry as much as possible b4 u blow it dry, and dry on cool setting. if u have natural body, apply mousse and let air dry to show off the waves.

to keep your healthy, youre going to have to trim the ends by about 1 or 2 inches
you may want to try shampoos and/or conditioners that are for dry/damaged hair, they really make your hair look healthy

also, a weekly deep-conditioning treatment will work wonders; try it all out, and good luck!

If you don't cut the dead or split ends off (at least 1 to 2 inches) you can forget it ever looking healthy. Cut it.

i dyed the ends of my hair blonde once and i KILLED my hair! trim all the dead ends off and take good care of it with moisturizing shampoo and it will grow a lot faster than it does when the ends are dead.

tell the stylist 'i need to keep the lenth but want it to look healthy' try long layers to give it some movement. long hair is beautiful, but long lanky hair isnt.
