I mean they were going to burn to death, but chose to jump and essentially commit suicide. Are they in hell? Maybe Jesus would have shown up and brought them to heaven?

The fundamentalists who know the will of God, I'm looking to you for insight into God's plan.

What a great question!!! Christians truly believe that suicide is a form of murder and that you will go to hell for it. If those people are in hell now, then the God that people worship is no god I want to associate with. If I were in those towers, I would have jumped as well. If you think about it, it takes control away from the terrorists and gives that control to you again. You have a choice about how you will die. In my opinion, those people who jumped were brave and strong minded individuals who took a terrible situation and decided how they wanted it to end.

This is a tough one to ponder, I don't know how I would have handled the situation myself. They had a choice, either burn a slow agonizing death or jump and most likely die instantly. But I do believe that because they chose death over the possibility of being burned and maybe surviving, they did indeed commit suicide and are most likely in Hell.

According to fundie xians, suicide is self-murder, and that is a sin -- according to them. So regardless of the desperation in the hearts of the World Trade Tower people, then fundies will say that they are paying the price burning in hell.

As for jesus showing up, whatever gave you that idea? Did he save the thousands of others who were found dead after the towers collapsed?

I dont consider it suicide. They were about to get burned to death and had no choice in whether or not they were going to die, but they had the choice in how. Besides that they were probably out of their minds with fear and not completely in control of their actions. If they were going to hell, then so would the people of flight 93 who brought the plane down.

Hell as a place of eternal torment is a lie. God does not view suicide as unforgiveable either as there is only one unforgiveable sin which is the blasphemy of the holy spirit. God is loving and merciful but he also has given us the precious gift of life and as much as possible we should cherish that gift.

God is a fair God. He knows the heart of every man. He's greatest wish is that everyone on earth will seek Him and in doing so find the Eternal Life. With that said I am sure that God would never ever see that as suicide

People go to hell because they have rejected Jesus Christ as their Savior, not because of what kind of sin they've committed. If one has a relationship with Christ, then all sins are forgiven, past and future. To keep the relationship open, one should avoid sin, or confess sins when they do occur.

They did not commit suicide. They were certainly going to die--there was no escaping. They just met that certainty on their own terms. They did not choose to end their own lives.

So, they are not in hell due to leaping from the building.

Whether they will be in hell for another reason is between them and God. But they won't be expressly on account of that act.

That's interesting, most people commit suicide because they find them selves in a situation where they don't see any other option. Why would this situation be any different?

Well their is a fire and they woulda died from that or getting collapsed upon, so it isnt necissarily concidered suicide, it may depend on your view of suicide, killing ur self is concidered murder and thats why it is a sin, so can u look at it like that? and plus only God knows whats in peoples hearts and only he can judge.
