To find your ground speed, put distance over time and look above the 60 on the inner wheel. This is your speed in whatever units your distance is in.

If you need to convert km to statute miles to nautical miles, there is markings on the outer ring (KM, SM, NM) with arrow pointing to the inner scale. Move the number you know on the inner scale to the UNIT you know and read the conversion at the UNIT you don't know on the inner scale.

Total fuel is Fuel Consumption over 60. Then read total fuel above the total time.

The E6B is obsolete; it is easier and faster to use a scientific calculator instead. The problems you have are so simple that any four-banger will solve them easily.

The first calculator I used was an HP-45, modified to add timekeeping ability. I used it for some years, but it ate NiCad batteries faster than I liked. I now use an HP-42S, which (with the LCD display used in all calculators nowadays) draws lots less power.

One thing that may help is to refer to the "60" bug as the Rate Bug. Any time you are trying to figure out a rate (mph, knots, gph, etc...basically anything with a per in it) your answer will always be underneath the Rate Bug. Also, time will ALWAYS be read from the inside ring and distances from the outside. So to figure a rate in Knots (not kph...) you placve your distance (outside ring) over the time (inside ting) and read the answer under the Rate Bug.

To figure your fuel burn in gallons per hour (hint hint) place your Rate Bug over the burn (60 over 13.4) and find the time (4+13) to read the total fuel burn on the outside ring.

Another tip. Dont bother with the time stamps that read things like 2:20 and such, stick to the big numbers.
