How about a little bit respect for your Grandmas and grandpas.
If your lucky enough to live that long then maby you will find out.?
Also if it wasn't for the likes of them doing their duty many years ago, you would all be speaking Germanic.
The original question was OK it was the answers that got me.
Spoilt little Muppet's,how many of you paid for the computer that your typing on now,?

I dated a guy that had a Yorkie, He wasn't old at all, just 48. He took that dog everywhere with him. Never had a bow though, maybe because the dog was male.

People young or old have pets for comfort and companionship... alot of older men (or women) have these pets for many years and when the spouse passes the other person just continues to care for the animal as they have for years. Alot of older people have their pets groomed by someone else because they are unable to. Most groomers I have known just put the bows and things in just as a common practice after the animal is groomed. These little old people love their pets and want them to be well cared for.

they comfort them. Research shows that when a person is peting a dog, their heart rate settles and goes at a better slower rate. Yorkies are great therapy dogs not to mention lap dogs.

It gives them comfort when they are lonely. If the person you are talking about has lost his wife, it could be for company. As for the bows, because they make the dog look cute?
