Boys are such a handful.. My 3 year old is always getting hurt and thinks his head is a weapon.
You need to find a bump which is a sign that there are not internal injuries.... no bump means the swelling went internally and you need to get to a doctor ASAP.

He may be sleepy, he may get lethargic, He may look a little funny in his coloring. My adivce to you is, go with your inner feelings, you are his mother, you are connected to him, if you feel he is acting strangly in any way, call your doctor, he/ she will advise you as to what actions to take. My 9 year old ruptured his spleen while walking his bicycle across the street, the front tire hit a stone, and pushed the handlebar into his stomach. He had no external injuries, but the internal injury almost killed him... I followed my inner feelings and also noticed he was a little gray looking, I called the Dr, He advised me to RUSH him to the hospital , which I didi, and the did emergancy surgery on him, removed his ruptured spleen and saved his life...Go with your inner feelings....

Watch for vomitting within 24 hours, losing conciousness, 'dazed' looks, lack of focus, acting 'out of character', wanting to sleep a lot/sleeping way more than usual, lack of usual balance, leaking fluid or bleeding from mouth nose or ears, not walking properly. If he has any of these symptoms, or does anything else that strikes you as quite unusual, take him into emergency immediately. Also, check his colour and breathing every couple of hours after he goes to bed. Don't wake him up if he looks normal, but call an ambulance if he is having problems breathing or won't wake up..

Anytime a child falls on their head, they should see the doctor. Even if you don't see a bump, a child can get some internal injuries, including internal hemmorraging. Watch for vomiting, nausea, disorientation, stumbling/balance/coordination problems.

You might want to take him to the doctor, since he fell on pavement. I wouldn't be concerned if it had been wood chips or gravel because they give. He might have hurt his neck in the fall and you wouldn't necessarily see signs right away. Also, don't rule out a concussion.

You need to make sure his eyes are both dilated the same and not changing size (The pupils). This can be a sign of a concussion) I would call his doctor anyway. They may want to see him. Better safe than sorry.

My son fell on the pavement today too. No lie. We were at a splash pad. He was running and fell back and hit his head probably harder than your child. Make sure there is no bruising later on and make sure he isnt getting dizzy or faint or walking slightly sideways. Sounds like your child is ok like mine. He hit hard and there wasnt even a bump. Hope he is ok.

Watch to see if he gets sleepy or vomits. Could be a sign of a concussion. You should really take him to the emergency room and get him checked out. I know it's a drag, but it's your kids health. He could be VERY hurt.

Check his eyes, if they are fixed and dilated bring him in. If not and he's sleepy make sure to wake him every 20 minutes or so. When in doubt take him to the ER.

Watch for vomiting and loss of consiousness. My daughter fell off the couch and landed on her head. I brought her into the ER and they told me she was fine but to watch for these symptoms.
