A State can and will verify if an inmate is incarcerated and where they are doing time.

I guess it depends on why you need to find them. If you want to schedule a visit you can call the correctional facility and ask their policy for visitation and request being put on the list.

If you need to serve papers, find a local process server to handle that for you.

If you simply want to know they are locked up call the State and get verification of same.

Cook county.....where???? Nevermind. You can call the State Department Of Corrections office, more likely headquartered in your state capitol building. They might at least acknowlege the inmate's name and DOC number (or the ones with the same name).

SIf they are convicted of a felony, you will be able to find them on the Il.dept. of Corections web site.
