Assuming that there are no pets in the house urinating on the furniture and carpets......

Crib bedding should be changed every couple of days, unless the child spits up on it, or soaks through their diaper.

For toddlers in 'big boy' or 'big girl' beds, twice a week is fine. Again, if the child has an 'accident', then change immediately.

Toilet trained children and older can have their bedding changed once weekly, as long as they haven't had any wetting accidents.

It is also possible that the child has a night wetting problem, and even if the mother has changed the bedding, the mattress may have been saturated. Waterproof over the mattress / under the sheet pads can help to prevent this, but also must be laundered along with the sheets when soiled.

Overall, it sounds like mom is a lousy housekeeper. I would wonder where else she lacks in her housecleaning duties?

That's pretty nasty. If the kid is wetting the bed, then absolutely change the bedding every time it happens. Maybe they don't have a plastic sheet or "lambskin" to protect the mattress and that's where the smell is coming from. Since getting beyond that stage, which ended, thank goodness when he was three, my 11 year old has his sheets changed once a week like the rest of the family. He showers every night so he's not dirty and neither is his bed when he gets into it.

In my home the bed sheets get washed once a week. It is the routine on Sunday morning we strip the beds. I have been lucky my four year old son has never had an accident so the routine stands unless something should happen.

[[not a mom]] well I have a guest room and I babysit these kids almost every night so I wash the bed pads, sheets, everything at least 4x a month. Unless they are sick or there is an accident of some sort then more then that.

Right now I wash my daughter's bedding once a week. She is just over 2 and still in diapers. I imagine I'll have to wash more often during potty training. When she was a baby I washed once a week as well, unless her diaper leaked or she spit up in bed.

i just had my first child four months ago. i honestly have only washed her sheets about 3 times. but then again it doesnt really need to be washed too much right now. i can see if she peed on it or spit up or it got really dirty.then i would probably wash it more often!! plus the first 2 months she slept in my bed.

you're so quick to judge!!! Maybe you don't know the whole situation. Maybe the parents didn't know that the kid had wet their bed, you know sometimes kids don't tell parents these kinds of things if they are embarrassed. I would be concerned if this is an on-going thing, but if it happens just once then why judge the parents so harshly? hasn't there been anything that your child has done that you didn't know about till later?!

Unless mine has an accident, I was her bed covers once a week... but of course, I wash ALL the bed covers once a week. I don't like the thought of havin' anything but cleanliness all over me at night.

The same as I still do today with my own bed....Once a week Unless hubby wakes up with a bloody nose than it's washed twice a week. :)

But when my kids were babies...It was every other day their bedding was washed unless they wet it than of course it was changed sooner.
