Only score recorded in official competition should count as other scores are difficult to verify. With that in mind
59 - Al Geiberger, (29-30), 1977 Memphis Open.

59 - Chip Beck, (30-29), 1991 Las Vegas Invitational.

59 - David Duval, (31-28), 1999 Bob Hope Chrysler Classic.

Lower scores outside competition or on less than par 72 regulation course have been recorded

Eat your heart out Tiger Woods! Stand aside David Duval and Annika Sörenstam! Wake up, Guinness Book of World Records!

Your money, your victories, even your 59's, do not come close to matching the inexplicably unsung exploit of a modest little man from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK): the Dear Leader, Kim Jong-Il.

AnyoneforTee believes it is time to set the record straight and give full credit to a man who played a par 72 course in just 34 strokes.

And before you say "Impossible, he can only have played nine holes", beware!

No lesser authority than Pyongyang Golf Club's resident professional, Park Young Man, together with Kim's 17 armed bodyguards, can attest that Kim played the full eighteen, all holed out, off the back tees on a crisp autumn morning in October 1994. "He is an excellent golfer," said Mr. Park.

18 is the lowest possible score but not the lowest probable score
a 59 is the lowest round played on the PGA tour

I presume by lowest you mean the best? Depends on the par for the course ... or the number of shots it SHOULD take someone to play if they play to the course - not sure if it's average or whatever. It will differ from course to course so no hard and fast answer ok?

Presuambly it would be 18, if you were lucky to get 18 holes in one.

Vinny2004, that story is a myth - unless there was a camera there, I'll never believe it - that means he would have had to shoot 2 or less on every hole - bullshitt

I would imagine that it would be 18, but then what do I know, you probably figured that out by yourself. Then again, maybe not or you wouldn't have asked such an inane question.
